With the cooler months upon us (at least here in the Southern hemisphere), now is the time to create that warm and cosy vibe that makes this time of year so special. This season is perfect for adding lots of blankets, candles and comforting tones to your home. Ideal for warm drinks, soft hugs and plenty of family time.

Warm Textures

Nothing makes a home more inviting than adding extra textures like plush cushions in multiple shapes and sizes, chunky throws, or faux fur. Layer up your beds, sofas, and accent chairs for that inviting, snuggly look.

Winter Tones

Rich, earthy colours truly set the scene during winter. Thing moss green, coffee colours, mustard yellows, warm navy and deep red tones. All of these make gorgeous accent colours when paired with your whites and neutral tones in the home.

Rug up!

Large area rugs are a must in winter! Rugs add instant warmth to your home as they insulate your timber and tiled floors from the cold. Visually they create a feeling of coziness and are the perfect backdrop for the kids to roll around when the outside is not an option.

Let there be light.

Lastly, turn up the ambience by dimming your lights! Switch off those bright downlights, and instead add floor and table lamps to your rooms, or light candles in the morning and at night (with earthy, vanilla and sugary scents, of course). This mood light together with some winter florals, leafy plants and crystal arrangements will help to set the scene for your coziest winter yet.

Winter would not be winter without the addition of some candles and dimmed lights. All we say is Hygge! | Hunter + Nomad - How to style winter layers
