FAQs

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Lots of stores have contacted us and asked to stock our products. We are on it and will let you know via our newsletter and here when you can see and buy our products in local stores. If you are interested in stocking Hunter & Nomad products, please contact us on wholesale@hunterandnomad.com.au for more information.

The answer to the first question is no. In regards to Instagram Collaborations, it is not a clear yes or no. We are lucky enough to not have to pay for collaborations and generally do not do them. However, there is always an exception to the rule, so please email us on hello@hunterandnomad.com with your social link and your proposal.

RUGS, OTTOMANS & CUSHIONS

Our Cotton Dot Tassel Cushions and Cotton Dot Ottomans do not come with an inserts. For the Tassel Cushion any 50x50cm cushion will fit. The Cotton Ottomans come with an insert bag in which you could put styrofoam beads. We like to use old doonas, cushions and blankets to make the ottomans as soft or firm as you like.

Our shell cushions do not require an insert as they are stuffed cushions.

Our rugs are washable in a conventional washing machine (140x200 and 160x230cm). The 200x300cm size can be washed on a low gentle cycle at your local laundromat.

Wash them on a low cold cycle.

Flat dry it in the shade.

Give it a good vacuum clean after it's completely dry to make it beautiful and soft again.

Treat tough stains with a damp cloth. Do not use chemicals to treat stains.

Here are some tips to keep shedding to a minimum:

Lightly vacuum it once a week (the more you vacuum the more the fibers will loosen up and come off).

Make sure NOT to have the vacuum on the setting closest to the ground.Use a rug pad under the rug to absorb shock and reduce shedding.

Take your rug outside for a good shake once in a while to clear off any dust that it has collected.

We do recommend gentle spot cleaning or professional dry-cleaning only for our shell cushions. Our Vintage Moroccan Floor Cushions should be treated like our wool rugs. Our cotton ottomans and cushion covers can be washed like described in the cotton rug section, however, do require for the inserts to be removed.

As these items are made purely from cotton and will therefore shed for a little while. If you want to help this process, you can either regularly vacuum your piece or wash it and place it in the dryer (both on low heat!). After a while you will no longer see any fluff.

All rugs are thoroughly cleaned prior to leaving Morocco. You may find some fine grains of desert sand which will lessen after a few vacuums.

If you wish to wash your rug in the future, using a professional rug cleaner is advised.

Shake your rug once in a while to clear off any dust that it has collected.

Due to the age and handmade nature of each vintage Moroccan rug, there may be some imperfections, flaws or signs of wear. They are not considered as defects, but add to the charm and story.

Price of the rug reflects tribe, knot technique, age, rarity, size and condition.

Photographs are true to colour and shot in natural lighting. Colours may vary from screen to screen.

All the vintage rugs have been sourced ethically.

SWING CHAIR & FURNITURE

It used to take about 8-12 weeks from order to delivery. Unfortunately, in these COVID-19 times this cannot be achieved or guaranteed. On each product's page  you can check out an estimate timeframe. Generally, we say 16 weeks, however, we have had cases where it has taken more than 20 weeks for the orders to be made and delivered. Basically, order as soon as you can to make the next container and we will update you along the way.

This has to do with a change in supplier. For us, it is super important that your items are high quality and reach you as soon as possible. Sometimes, our artisans cannot keep up with the amount of orders. In those cases we have to find new artisans and wait for samples before we can confidently offer pre-orders again. Please feel always free to email hello@hunterandnomad.com.auif you have questions regarding a specific item.

Unfortunately, at this stage, we won't. Our warehouse is not big enough to hold such large items. Please place a pre-order or feel free to emailhello@hunterandnomad.com.auif you have questions regarding a specific item.

Do it yourself by following these step-by-step instructions below or ask your local handyman or builder to hang it up for you.

TOOLS YOU WILL NEED:

~ Cordless drill or screwdriver

~ Stud finder - you can find these at Bunnings or online.

~ Measuring tape

~ Pencil - to mark the ceiling

~ Ladder

 LOCATE THE CEILING JOISTS

Hold your swing chair up to get an idea of where you want to install it, making sure you have enough space to rotate and swing it.

A minimum of 80cm from the edge of the ceiling if it's in the corner gives enough room for movement. Mark a spot on the ceiling with the pencil where the center of the chair would be.

The hardware must be screwed into a beam/joist. Attaching it to a plaster ceiling alone is unsafe and won’t hold the weight of a person sitting in the swing chair.

Use the stud finder to find the centre of the beam, it will beep when you have found it. Double check and mark the spot.

In Australia ceiling joists are 14 INCHES (40cm) or 24 INCHES (60cm) apart (centre to centre), so be sure to check again to get the centre of the joist.

Screw the mounting plate to the ceiling. You’ll know the screw(s) or hook are going into the stud because there'll be a lot of resistance.

There are a number of ways to hang the chair. You could use the rope that comes with the swing or you can use a chain instead.

Ideally the swing needs to be about 45cm off the floor which is the average seat height, but it may need to be a little lower for children.

Enjoy your new swing chair!
